Hooking up in 2013 with Sam Duckworth of Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly for a feature on the K&S single ‘Good for the City’ turned out to be a remarkable and sparkling collision of likeminded musical heads.
There just had to be a follow up, and since then Sam has regularly dropped by in our Leiden studio to work with us on new material that reflected our shared interest in trying to combine electronica with a more organic, UK indie approach. And, well, just plain good songs of course.
The Octaves EP release, collecting a first couple of recordings from these sessions, is thus the first official result of this collab after some long evenings of making and discussing music, of course accompanied by cans of Heineken and Indonesian takeaway food.
More songs have found their way onto tape in the mean time, and in the future it may well be that a further selection from these sessions will see a release.
For now, enjoy Notes, Shelter and Concrete. Released as a special vinyl-only release on our own brand new label Boogie Angst - with stunning artwork by Dutch artist Thomas Raat. Hand stamped by the band too.
I really like this. it's not what I would normally buy but the bassline on "I'm on it", how could I say no. blame Itv for bringing this fan tune, and its A side to my attention. I'm on it, keep on it. drboots
