Word after word we disagree
Always in trouble for how we feel
Feeling exposed by nothingness
If there ain't much room for second guesses
Whether we do whether we don't
Life's a reflection of how we've grown
Simple expressions of happiness
Can turn these tears to gold
How could I persuade you
Even if we had no time
Breaking bad is easy
If we never try, oh no
Never wished to change you
Even if it meant goodbye
Life was never breezy
'Till we made it shine
More insecurities on our way
The unforeseeable into play
Don't let the magic forsake itself
If there ain't no cure to lift the spell
Maybe we will maybe we won’t
Maybe agree that our minds are blown
Look at the stars and begin to see
All that matters in between
How could I persuade you
Even if we had no time
Breaking bad is easy
If we never try, oh no
Never wished to change you
Even if it meant goodbye
Life was never breezy
'Till we made it shine
Interlude
How could I persuade you
Even if we had no time
Breaking bad is easy
If we never try, oh no
Never wished to change you
(Never wish to change)
Even if it meant goodbye
(Meant goodbye)
Life was never breezy
('Till we made it)
'Till we made it shine
Make it shine
Make it shine
'Till we made, 'till we made it shine
Oooh ooh ooh
about
Hot on the heels of their Mediterranean flavoured EP, Scirocco, Kraak & Smaak follows in close succession with their new single—Persuade You.
With a stellar vocal performance by K&S mainstay and touring vocalist IVAR, Persuade You is an orchestral groover reminiscent of those Motown and Stax Records heydays.
Like Isaac Hayes and Jungle crossing each other on an intersection, Persuade You feels like the best of both worlds; a modern production rooted firmly in traditional techniques and flavours.
IVAR’s performance has a certain weight and heft to it, brilliantly narrating the story of a relationship turned one-sided. Persuading someone shouldn’t really fit in a healthy relationship, but we’ve all crossed that bridge at some point; projecting something on someone, that just isn’t there.
Even though the subject matter feels quite dramatic, at the same time the song has sparkle and air to it; strings, soulful live drums, and slick guitars trade places resulting in a wonderful opera of blazing Funk injected with a healthy dose of groovy Soul.
The ever-evolving Kraak & Smaak sound is something we’ve come to admire, but never take for granted. Diligently waiting where they will take us next.
