In the world of intercontinental collaboration, some things just make absolute sense. One of those things is Kraak & Smaak working with LA-based vocalist, producer and multi-instrumentalist, Otis Kane. With the demo originating from a Los Angeles studio session earlier this year, Kraak & Smaak and Otis Kane link up to great effect and draw from the classic era’s of Soul and Funk. The result is a flashy intersection of Soul and Pop stadium grandeur.
Celebrating their twentieth year in the music game, Kraak & Smaak is the Netherlands-based Electronic Funk trio, who are smoothly exploring the space between Nu-disco, Jazz, Funk and Soul. Following up on the Turbotito collaboration, “My All”, and their retrospective album, “Twenty”, this new single is a gorgeous continuation of their new output.
They have crafted something that feels like the modern equivalent of a Stax record; a jerkygroove leads way to Otis Kane’s raspy, sultry vocal, all whilst being guided by a live drumextravaganza. The chorus arrives like the first day of spring, and with the parting of the clouds a solid baseline underpins the central vocal statement. With a host of other gorgeous live instrumentation scattered around, Ready For Ya has turned into a force to be reckoned with.
