Lifted from their 2019-released album ‘Pleasure Centre’, Kraak & Smaak’s single ’Same Blood’ featuring Los Angeles-based duo The Palms is making a timely comeback in this second half of summer, enhanced by a quartet of surefire reworks courtesy of Norwegian nu-disco don Prins Thomas and True Romance head honcho, Tensnake.

A lavishly orchestrated indie disco-pop number, ‘Same Blood’ casts a spell of Californian summer upon the dancefloor with its coastal sunset-ish atmosphere, understated psychedelia and welcoming zero-G dreaminess that’s become a trademark of The Palms’ wistful musical imaginarium. Adding his club-optimised twist to the tune, Hamburg-based house escapist Tensnake unbridles the groove and tunes up the engines to develop the original mix's DJ-friendly potential to the full. Calibrated to grab the dancers and not let loose on them till the lights have gone off, both the short edit and extended version talk the most sensual body language and are primed to excel in transient moments, whether the sun is going up or down.

Lulling us to a brightly hued utopia of hybrid disco-rock and faded early-days house, Nordic wizard Prins Thomas’ further lushly ornamented takes embark us on a trip down memory lane, with its funky slap bass, chromatic pads and soft bugle calls holding the rank of time-travelling vehicle. A total treat for the feet and senses, the classic ‘diskomiks’ treatment doesn’t disappoint, be it the vocal version which gracefully incorporates The Palms’ enticing singing into a further spacious, kosmische-tinged environment, or the instrumental one, which allows Prins Thomas’ widescreen production process to be fully underlined and the listener to lose himself in between tight-knit beds of complex melodic lines.
